The Transportation Alternatives (TA) provides funding for the programs and projects such as: pedestrian and bicycle facilities, safe-routes-to-school projects, infrastructure improvements that provide better access to transit, environmental mitigation, and other improvements to the transportation system. 

Approximately $103,249 in TA funds (subject to change) will be available in both fiscal years 2024 and 2025 within the New Mexico portion of the El Paso Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Region.  New Mexico calculates the federal fund ratios at 85.44% Federal and 14.56% Local Match:

• 2024 -- $103,249 ($88,216 Federal/$14,739 Local Match)
• 2025 -- $105,274 ($89,946 Federal/$15,328 Local Match)

Deadline to submit draft application: June 2, 2023, 2:00 p.m. MST

A complete application will include the following:

• NMDOT Project Feasibility Form (PFF)
• El Paso MPO Project Request Form (PRF)*
• Cover Letter explaining the project
• A map of the project
• A draft resolution of sponsorship
• Letter of support from external ROW holders (if outside of your jurisdiction)
• TAP/RTP Application Form
